Bulk storage applications can be defined as a storage solution comprising a relatively low number of product lines stored in high volumes. The Metalrax bulk storage portfolio comprises pallet racking, garment racks, archive racking and warehouse racking.
Pallets and unit loads can be stored on APR adjustable pallet racking which is accessed with forklift trucks. APR adjustable pallet racking has been installed into many diverse environments, steel stockholders, for example, where conventional frames were customised into a triple upright configuration. The extra upright allowed for a third beam at each location level to support the unusually heavy pallet loads. In airfreight handling centres and terminals, the pallet racking installation also formed the support for mesh panels, making a self-contained bonded store.
Adjustable pallet racking can be just as effective in a low level order picking environment. Because a fork lift truck would be a hazard to operatives in these areas a Voyager pedestrian stacker would be used to load and off-load pallets.
Garment racks, archive racking and warehouse racking would typically be accessed by a man-rise order picker or simply by operators working from mobile steps. Archive racking has been installed into document management repositories and County Council Records Offices throughout the U.K.
