Omega PLC - Thorne

Omega PLC, is a leading manufacturer in the domestic kitchen furniture
industry. They specialise in creating high quality cabinets and associated products in their purpose built factory based in Thorne near Doncaster.

Metalrax accepted the challenge to design a conveyor layout to meet the changing demands of a busy production facility.

Over 400 metres of low level gravity conveyor was installed to transport composite board between machines to facilitate the production process.

To ensure effective transfer from one track to another, Metalrax built hand propelled transfer trucks which interfaced between banks of conveyor track allowing large sheets of material to be manoeuvred around the factory with minimum effort and maximum productivity.

Specially constructed ball tables were positioned at strategic junctions to enable boards to be rotated and distributed to the appropriate machine. Conveyor tracks also function as live storage holding areas enabling material to be scheduled with maximum efficiency.
